Well, seeing as how we aren't actually allowed to take part properly in the first Poundshop challenge (we're the judges you see!) I thought that I'd make one anyway just to have a go.
After some deliberation and umming and aahing I have decided to make a 2m Yagi. I had such a good time during VHF Field Day (my first time on 2m SSB) that I felt I wanted to explore this further. Also, I know next to nothing about the Yagi so now is as good a time as any to explore and learn something new.
The basic construction is going to be bamboo canes which will be lashed together using garden string. The directors, reflector and driven element will also be bamboo which have been wrapped in tin foil. I am not sure what the tapering in the canes will do to the antenna but nothing ventured, nothing gained (pun fully intended!)
All the materials are now purchased and ready to assemble which is this weekend's job!
