RSGB SSB Field Day

We will be taking part in SSB Field Day again this year as G4SJM/P

The rules for SSB Field Day are here.

Essentially we need a field (got that!), tentage (got that too!), an antenna (got the wire, need a 15m mast), a power source (got that sorted as well), operators and a radio. I think we are ready.

Last year was great fun and a learning curve for most people there - the unique challenges of establishing a functional radio station under field conditions is a superb training ground. Many of us new to the contesting side of amateur radio had not appreciated the different skills needed to operate for a constant 24 hours in a field. It is a mental as well as a technical challenge for all involved.
